What To Do and Where Go

WINTER AND SPRING ACTIVITIES will be surprised how many activities that there are in Big Sky.

 

·         Skiing and Snowboarding: We are just 8 miles from Big Sky and Moonlight Basin. You can be out of the garage and up to the resort in 15 minutes. This is just awesome snow with no lines. Black Diamonds that stop your heart, Olympic type terrain park as well as nice long blue and beginner runs. First class snow with no lines, you can’t beat that.  Rentals are cheaper down the mountain and are just down the street.

·         Shuttle:  Big Sky provides a free snow shuttle to the resorts. This picks up down the street at the firelight meadows entrance.

·         Yellowstone: Riding a snowmobile in Yellowstone is a once in a life time experience. You not only get to see the Geysers, there are awesome experiences with the wildlife. The snow is so beautiful you will think you are with Lewis and Clark. Snow Cats are also available for a warmer indoor experience.

·          Dog Sledding: Dog Sledding is something to tell your friends about. If you are lucky you might even get to drive the team. Great Family Fun!

·         Sleigh Rides:. Sleigh ride through the forest in the crisp air. You are taken up to the meal area and relax with a meal and music. If you are lucky a moose will join you along the way. Smores and campfires are included. There are 2 outfits that provide this service.

·         Fly Fishing: The Gallatin River is just down the street and you about an hour drive from the Madison River. Fly fishing guides are plentiful, try Mad Wolf Sports you can float boat or wade, dry or wet flies, rainbows or browns, it is all a blast. Just call ahead and they can tell you all of the conditions.

·         Cross Country Skiing: Big Sky is home to plenty of Cross Country Skiing. You can also go into West Yellowstone and try it out also.

·         Snow Shoeing: This is pretty popular, just strap on your snow shoes and get hiking. There are trails and rentals available within minutes of your location

·         Snowmobiling: West Yellowstone is known as the “Snowmobiling Capital”. However if you want a less crowded and a more challenging experience try getting out in the Gallatin National Forest. We would recommend a guide. Rentals are available right in Big Sky.

·         Sledding: There are sleds in the chalet. There is a great hill right out the back door!

SUMMER AND FALL ACTIVITIES

You might just not want to go home after a week up here

 ·        Yellowstone National Park: You are just about an hour away from the West Yellowstone entrance. This is a once in a lifetime experience for the whole family. It is amazing to see so much wildlife up close. The Geysers are an incredible natural phenomena that you have to experience!

·        Fly Fishing: This is world class fly fishing. The Gallatin River is just down the street and you about an hour drive from the Madison River. Fly fishing guides are plentiful, try Mad Wolf Sports you can float boat or wade, dry or wet flies, rainbows or browns, it is all a blast. Just call ahead and they can tell you all of the conditions.

·        Golfing: An Arnold Palmer designed course is just down the street. Relaxing lay out surrounded by mountain views. Rental clubs are available.

·        White Water Rafting: What a thrilling experience! The Gallatin River provides several different types of rafting experiences, there are family rides and crazy white water.  Several companies provide this service.

·        Hiking: There are all types of trails long and short easy and difficult. There are amazing views and wildlife everywhere.

·        Mountain Biking: Bike all over the mountains watch out for moose. Rentals are available down the street at Gallatin Alpine Sports. They will provide you with routes and all of the equipment needed.

·        Horse back riding: Trail rides for full and half day.

·        Oussell Falls: This is a short drive to the trail head. Oussell Falls is a 2 story waterfall at the end of the trail head. This is a great picnic spot or quick hike. There is a trail that starts at the entrance to Firelight Meadows that leads to the trail head.

·        Wildlife Viewing: Big Horn Sheep, Elk, Deer, Coyotes and Moose are roaming around. Guides services are available.
